In the last week, I received an
email from Jaco Halfon who was inspired by my books and workshops on the
Tree of Life and wanted to share his work with me. This email was a
wonderful affirmation of something I suspected for a while, that
studying Kabbalah is not about reading ancient cryptic books but about
creation.
Jaco Halfon invited me to his gallery
opening where he presented artwork he has been creating for the last
three years. Each piece was dedicated to one of the spheres of the Tree
of Life, adhering to its corresponding color, number, name of God, and
symbolism.

26 elements from
his serial art, infused with Kabbalistic references.
Jaco Halfon is a sculptor and director, in the like of Orson Welles and
Terence Malick
His spiritual journey carries the density, depth, and rigor exhibited by
gold miners. They move on, knowing that splendor will come out of
their quest!
Serial Artist, he signs 26 compositions, coherently sewn . All are
chapters of a book / movie where the climb is presented as a promise to
deliver.
Definite esoteric quest and expanded reflection. Never dogmatic, his
creativity emerge from meditation, wrapped in scholarly references drawn
from chosen research.
Not Jewish Artist, but avant-garde artist being Jewish. His art opens a
gateway between real, imaginary and symbolic. These three dynamics
interpenetrate happily!
Fusion to follow with eyes wide open ....

To many of us the world of
kabbalah is esoteric, distant and incalculable. Jaco successfully
reduces all the ethereal to the material in the form of his sculpture.
He is faithful to the symbolism and numerology of the kabbalah while
asserting his independent artistic vision.
To those familiar with kabbalah it is an ah "aha" experience. Those
floating concepts are materialized and the materiality is spiritualized.
To those who are unfamiliar with kabbalah or Jaco, I envy the wonderful
experience that awaits when you first feast your eyes on his
innovations.
